I'm Tom Twining-Ward, and I’m global technical capacity development advisor.
My main areas of expertise are:

- 3. Inter-disciplinary programme management
I have seventeen years experience working globally with capacity development, management, climate change and environmental management – primarily with UNDP. My background is as a geographer and development specialist with experience in a broad range of environmental and development issues, research, consulting and journalism.
As Senior Technical Advisor for our Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded cross-cutting capacity development work, I manage a global portfolio of approximately 50 projects funded by the GEF.
2008-2011– Managed large portfolio of climate change adaptation, UN-REDD and capacity development projects in Africa and beyond, and helped mobilize and manage climate change adaptation funds of approximately $45 million.
2004-2008- Provided guidance and assistance to governments and UNDP country offices on design, implementation and monitoring of approximately 250 UNDP-GEF projects on capacity development and climate change adaptation
1996-2004 - Headed UNDP’s $30 million environmental portfolio in the South Pacific, responsible for national and regional UNDP and UNDP-GEF environment and natural resource management programmes and projects in the areas of biodiversity, climate change, international waters and capacity development
