Hi, I’m John Macauley and I’m UNDP’s Regional HIV, Health and Development Specialist.

 

My main areas of work include:

 

Providing policy advice to countries and UNDP Country Offices for the implementation of effective HIV and public health responses including:

 

Promoting gender and human rights-based approaches in responses to HIV and AIDS and broader health issues

 

Encouraging the participation and engagement of civil society representatives and members of key populations at higher risk of HIV and other communicable diseases

 

Integrating non-communicable disease perspectives into a broader range of UNDP-supported policies and programmes with a strong focus on social, economic and environmental determinants of health and a multi-sectorial approach

 

Addressing the linkages between health and the environment with focus on carbon foot printing and healthcare waste management assessments of UNDP implemented Global Fund grants

 

Addressing health inequalities and strengthening the governance of health responses and social protection for marginalized and key populations at higher risk of HIV and other health issues

 

Advising on the timely codification and dissemination of good practices in ensuring effective responses to HIV and AIDS and broader health issues
