Gender equality

The promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment, grounded in international human rights, are critical to the mandate of UNDP. UNDP recognizes that unless women and girls are able to fully realize their rights in all aspects of life sustainable human development will not be achieved. UNDP seeks to incorporate gender equality principles in its three priority areas: sustainable development, democratic governance and peacebuilding, and climate and disaster resilience.

Our Goals

In the Europe and CIS region, UNDP works with national and international partners to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women. These efforts include advocating for women’s and girls’ equal rights, combating discriminatory practices across all sectors and challenging roles and stereotypes that worsen inequalities and exclusion.
